31-Year-Old Killed In Friday Night Shooting in Decatur Identified

A tragic shooting in Decatur on Friday night has resulted in the death of Garrett Wilson, a 31-year-old local resident. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. near North Illinois Street and East Prairie Avenue, close to A1 Grocery and Shark’s restaurant.

Witnesses and social media users reported a significant police response at the scene, with videos showing officers securing the area and yellow crime scene tape cordoning off the street. The large police presence indicated the seriousness of the incident.

 According to police statements to WAND News, officers arrived to find Wilson suffering from gunshot wounds outside a residence. Despite immediate medical efforts, Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. The Macon County Coroner later confirmed his identity.
