jj brooks Bristol, Rhode Island | Tribute To James Joseph Brooks
James “JJ” Joseph Brooks, age 22, of Bristol, Rhode Island, tragically passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 7, 2025. Born in New London, Connecticut, he was the beloved son of Anthony William Brooks, Sr. and Jamie (Sousa) Brooks.
A 2021 graduate of Mt. Hope High School, JJ was known for his vibrant personality and diverse talents. He played JV football, competed in varsity lacrosse (#32), and was a spirited member of the robotics team, even serving as the team’s mascot. An avid fan of Hamilton and Harry Potter, JJ thrived in creative pursuits, from building computers to designing tattoos—his favorite being a lightning bolt, albeit a failed one. Currently attending CCRI for cybersecurity, he was also working at Stop & Shop in Bristol.
JJ loved traveling to Boston, New York, and spending time with loved ones, including his sister Tiffany, twin brother AJ, and “the Littles.” His bright smile, spontaneous spirit, and kind heart left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his parents, sister Tiffany, twin brother AJ, grandmothers Lorraine Sousa and Mary Brooks, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his furry brother, Gronk. Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, Warren, RI, where the family will receive friends on November 17 from 4-8PM. A Mass will be held on November 18 at 10AM in Fall River, MA, with burial following in Bristol, RI.
