Another Talk Radio Veteran Has Died: Vale Leon Byner

The Australian radio industry has lost another cherished voice with the passing of Leon Byner. At age 77, Leon succumbed after a brave battle with acute leukemia. His passing follows the recent farewell to legendary broadcaster John Laws, marking a somber moment for the radio community.

Leon Byner was a prominent figure in Adelaide’s media landscape, known for his engaging style and dedication to his audience. Throughout his career, he became a trusted voice for many, delivering news, analysis, and lively discussions that kept listeners informed and connected. His influence extended beyond broadcasting, as he was regarded as a mentor and friend to many in the industry.

Retiring from radio three years ago, Leon left behind a legacy of professionalism and warmth. His departure is deeply felt by colleagues and listeners alike. Craig Munn, station manager at FIVEAA, expressed heartfelt condolences, stating, “The entire FIVEAA family remembers Leon Byner, our much-loved friend and colleague.
