California State University, Monterey Bay Lockdown|Please Watch For OtterALERT Notices
The safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff at Cal State Monterey Bay remain the top priority. On November 10, campus police issued a shelter-in-place alert following a report of shots fired near Imjin Road and Imjin Parkway in Marina around 7 p.m. Out of an abundance of caution, the university temporarily restricted access to the main campus to protect the community.
The shelter-in-place was lifted just before 9 p.m., and normal activities resumed. However, law enforcement activity may continue near Promontory as authorities investigate the incident. The campus community was advised to stay alert and monitor OtterALERT notifications and the CSUMB SAFE app for updates.
An earlier alert around 8 p.m. instructed students to seek indoor shelter immediately and stay in a secure location. The university appreciates everyone’s cooperation during this tense situation, which was conducted to ensure safety. Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the incident, and further updates will be provided as available.
CSUMB emphasizes the importance of safety protocols and community vigilance. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity to campus authorities. The university’s priority continues to be maintaining a secure environment for all.
