It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doug Flockhart, our past CEO of Gliding Australia, who left us early on Saturday, 8th November. Doug was a remarkable individual whose warmth and passion for gliding touched everyone he met. Throughout his career, he dedicated himself to promoting the sport and fostering a welcoming environment for all enthusiasts.
Doug’s leadership was characterized by his unwavering commitment to inclusion. He believed that gliding was a sport for everyone, regardless of background or ability, and worked tirelessly to break down barriers within the community. His efforts have left a lasting legacy, inspiring many to pursue their passion for flying and creating opportunities for newcomers to experience the joy of gliding.
