Victim In Fiery Standing Stone Twp. Crash Identified As Brian R. King
State troopers have identified the individual who tragically lost his life in a fiery two-vehicle crash on Route 6 in Standing Stone Township early Friday morning, October 24. The victim was Brian R. King, 38, of Palmerton, Pennsylvania.
According to authorities, King was driving a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta westbound in the eastbound lane at around 3:15 a.m. When he collided head-on with a 2000 Kenworth Northwest tractor trailer driven by Joshua A. Compton, 39, of South Gibson. Troopers noted that King’s vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed in the wrong lane, which contributed to the severity of the crash.
The impact caused both vehicles to burst into flames, rendering them unrecognizable. King was declared dead at the scene by the Bradford County Coroner’s Office. Compton, who was wearing his seatbelt, was unharmed.
The accident prompted authorities to close Route 6 from Red Rock Road in Wysox Township to West Valley Road in Standing Stone Township for approximately six hours as emergency crews responded and cleared the scene. Both vehicles were later towed by Fulmer’s Towing. The investigation remains ongoing.
