In Loving Memory Of Denise Sample | New York Woman Dies In Frostproof Car Accident

A tragic two-vehicle collision occurred on November 9 in Frostproof, claiming the life of a 79-year-old woman from New York, authorities reported. The crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 27 and County Road 630-A.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), a blue 2011 Mazda CX9 traveling north on U.S. 27 collided with a black 2025 Chevrolet Trax that was turning left onto CR 630-A. The impact was on the right rear passenger side of the Trax.

The back seat passenger, Denise Sample, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and front seat passenger, also elderly residents of New York, sustained bruises and abrasions and were transported to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center for treatment.

The 19-year-old Frostproof man driving the Mazda was unharmed, treated at the scene, and subsequently released. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, with authorities working to determine the cause of the accident.
