Vernal Fredericks, 16-Year-Old Died In Tragic Drowning Incident In Port Kaituma River
Port Kaituma is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Vernal Fredericks, a bright and promising 16-year-old student whose life was tragically cut short. Vernal was not only a dedicated student but also a talented athlete and cadet, known for his discipline, respect, and determination. His vibrant spirit touched everyone around him, leaving a lasting impression on friends, family, and schoolmates at Port Kaituma Secondary School.
The tragic incident occurred at Canal Bank, a popular weekend spot along the Port Kaituma River. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Vernal was swimming with friends when he ventured into deeper waters. Witnesses say he began shouting for help, but unfortunately, onlookers thought he was joking. As time passed, it became clear that he was in distress, but by then, it was too late. Vernal had already gone under the water.
Efforts to rescue him were made, but sadly, they were unsuccessful. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
